The Activity :
For this activity we are going to use two different graphics programs; Paint and Fireworks. They have some similarities but Fireworks is far more advanced and has many more capabilities. This is a multiple day activity, so don't rush your creations. If you get stuck try to do something different. The goal of this activity is for you to explore these two very different software packages.
Paint can be opened by clicking Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Paint
Fireworks can be opened by clicking Start --> All Programs --> Macromedia --> Fireworks
Take Notice of the differences in the features. When you first open Fireworks it will ask you what you want to open. Choose New Fireworks File then input the size of the canvas 800 Width 600 Length. On the left side pane you can see a bunch of tools. Any time you see an arrow pointing down if you left click and hold the button down more options will pop up.
Your Mission:
Drawing #1: Create a drawing of your neighbor (the one sitting next to you), be nice to them, or at least as nice as you can. We will upload this file to Moodle so everyone can see your pictures.
Drawing #2: Create a drawing of your favorite place to be.
While you do this activity and learn to play with graphics, create one picture in Paint and one in Fireworks. Make sure you save your pictures by clicking your "My Computer" -> then your student number, name the file and "Save". Once they are saved you can post them to the Moodle forum, so that they will show. Feel free to share your ideas with the class in Moodle and any tips you may have. |
